Job Summary
The Accompanist provides music during regular and special services to enhance the worship experience. The music includes the hymns, choral pieces, and any other music selections that may be designated. Duties include accompanying the choir during the service and rehearsal, as well as individual preparation for worship and performing music on Sunday mornings.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in vocal accompaniment on the piano
- Ability to sight-read music and read “parts” to aid the choir in learning the pieces.
- Have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in all aspects of music playing and rehearsal to best suit the needs of the choir.
- The ability to take directions from the Music Ministry Director and guidance from the pastor concerning the role of music in the life of the church.
- Accompany and equip others to share musical gifts during worship.
- Music degree preferred.
- Be actively pursuing growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ preferred.
- Understand and champion the church’s mission and vision and the theology and traditions of the United Methodist Church preferred.
- Prepare and play music for weekly worship services
- Prepare and play music for other special services, such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, etc.
- Assist Pastor and Music Director in selecting congregational music for worship
- Attend periodic meetings for worship planning
- Accompany choir for practice during the week and on Sunday during worship
