Endowment Fund

The Susanna Wesley United Methodist Endowment Fund exists to provide a means for members and friends of the Church to make gifts, bequests, and devises to the Church to provide financial support and living memorials for programs, missions, and ministries.

Unrestricted Funds: Distributions of income from this account shall be used to support the programs, missions and ministries of the Church as approved by the Endowment Fund Committee in accordance with the policies of the Charge Conference of the Church.

Designated Funds: Gifts of any size may be designated for any of these four funds: 1. Missions and Outreach. 2. Discipleship Development. 3. Music, Worship and Arts. 4. Building and Grounds. There will be no minimum deposit required to contribute to these designated Endowment Fund Accounts.

Restricted Endowment Funds: With a gift of at least $25,000, a donor may designate a fund for a specific purpose, program or ministry of their choosing, within the guidelines of the Endowment.

Cash: Cash gifts are welcome at any time. A Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA has immediate tax benefits.

Appreciated Securities (or other assets): The gift of appreciated securities is most often in the form of common stock or mutual funds. Such a gift is a valuable way to benefit Susanna Wesley and for you to receive tax benefits based on the fair-market value of the assets.

Real Estate: Real estate may be deeded outright to Susanna Wesley or left by bequest. The irrevocable gift of property may provide an immediate tax deduction and avoid capital gains.

Life Insurance: Make a gift of a policy or buy a policy making Susanna Wesley the owner and beneficiary.

Bequest: There are many ways in which you may bequeath assets to the Church. Bequests to Susanna Wesley are always excluded from your taxable estate and provide a very simple way to share your life’s blessings and leave a legacy. You may choose a specific item, as a percentage, or a residual bequest. You may also choose to make Susanna Wesley a contingent beneficiary in case the heirs are unable to receive the estate.

Retirement Plan Assets: In some cases, retirement assets can be the heaviest taxed assets in an estate. Naming Susanna Wesley as a beneficiary enables the asset to pass tax-free to the Church. You may also make Susanna Wesley a percentage beneficiary, or a contingent beneficiary of a retirement plan.

Mission and Outreach: The Endowment Fund could be used to help fund possible mission trips, seminars, or events for the youth and adults of our congregation to be in service to others and discover how their lives can be used to make a difference in our community, across the country, or throughout the world.

Discipleship Development: The funds may be used to develop partnerships with other organizations in the community, or to conduct classes and workshops. Transformation often comes as we connect with others and work together.

Worship, Music & Arts: There are always times when music is needed, sanctuary worship aids and technological equipment are needed, or worship events need extra supplies.

Building and Grounds: Our facilities will always need updating. Some of this can happen through special giving of the congregation. The Endowment Fund could be used to augment the giving of the church when it is apriority to improve our building and grounds.
